Chris Leong

Chris has diverse knowledge in the business and technology world, partly due to being an engineer by training specialising in IC design and programming. He is currently completing his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with Strathclyde University, ranked amongst the Top 50 MBA programmes globally.

Chris found his passion in Software Engineering in 2003 and has played many roles in the IT industry since then. He started his career as a system analyst in 2004 and then moved on to work in a project management role for a foreign Oil & Gas MNC. Four years later, he moved on to become a Broad Audience Marketing Executive for Microsoft Malaysia.

Passionate about technology, Chris has contributed articles and conducted speaking engagements to share his knowledge. For his efforts and contribution, he received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award in 2009.

An active entrepreneur, Chris has experience in traditional brick and mortar business in the retail industry. He learnt entrepreneurship the hard way and since leaving his hard knock days behind, has built up his business acumen. Chris credits his success in diverse industries over the years to appropriate application of technical skills and project management and business acumen, as well as a strong passion for entrepreneurship, business and technology.

Chris is a council member of the Technopreneur Association of Malaysia (“TeAM”), a group that furthers the interests of technopreneurs and assists in the development of the digital economy in Malaysia. TeAM takes an active role in fostering ICT development efforts in support of initiatives by the Malaysian Government to make Malaysia a major ICT and biotechnology player in the region. He currently holds the funding portfolio in TEAM.

Chris is also the co-author of the book “Like Me Follow Me” along with Oon Yeoh, a popular columnist. The book is a step-by-step guide to using Facebook and Twitter, targeted at businesses.
