Step 2: Email Proposal

Email your investment proposals to proposal at vic.org.my.

Step 3: Evaluation

Investment proposals that are submitted will be evaluated immediately. Those that meet our investment criteria will be presented to the ViC Investment Committee. Companies that have been shortlisted from this process will then be invited to pitch to our Members (angel investors).

Note: Please allow up to 14 working days for us to respond on the status of your application.

Disclaimer

Submitting an investment proposal does NOT instantly guarantee that the company will be invited to pitch to angel investors. All investment proposals will still have to go through a screening process first, and only those that pass will be invited to pitch to our exclusive pool of angels investors.

Though we may love for every company to have a chance to pitch to angel investors without having to go through a screening process, the reality is that such a process is necessary – especially when our local angel investing ecosystem is still in its early stages.

A screening process will enable angel investors to spend more time on selected quality companies, instead of having them waste their time with many unsuitable companies that are not all that serious about getting angel investors on board.

Does my company even qualify to start applying?

ViC considers companies from various industries that are seeking funding from RM250,000 to RM2.5 million. Your company should be either:

  • An early stage company looking for seed funding (typically your company should be less than three years old), or
  • A small- to medium-sized (SME) company looking for growth and expansion funding.

Also, since angel investing is a form of private equity investment, you should expect to give up some shareholding (never a majority) in your company in exchange for funding and mentorship.

Why such a long list of requested details in Step 1? Can’t I just send in my usual business plan?

We are currently in the midst of developing an application form that companies can use to submit their investment proposal. Meanwhile, we have prepared a comprehensive list of requested details which is intended to serve as an investment proposal guide. The guide contains questions you should ask yourself as an entrepreneur who is preparing to pitch for angel funding.

If you have already written a business plan in another document, feel free to copy the necessary information from it.

Though you do not have to include every requested detail in our list to submit your application for screening, you are encouraged to fill up as many requested details as possible in order for us to better evaluate your investment proposal.

Keep in mind that the same details will very likely be asked at some point by angel investors, so you would eventually have to be prepared with the information anyway.

Your investment proposal will also provide us an insight into your thinking process, to see how you may fit with some of our angel investors.
